NORTH EAST OPEN STUDIOS

It's been a few years since I last took part in NEOS so I am really excited to be taking part again and welcoming visitors through the door. This time I'm teaming up with Mags Gray, a creative pal of mine, maker of beautiful hand built ceramics and occasional jewellery model. More about that shortly.........

North East Open Studios takes place from 14th -23rd September 2019 and is an annual open studio event that plays host to over 200 creatives throughout Aberdeen City + Shire. If you'd like to visit an artist/maker then you browse the participants via the website or pick up a NEOS brochure which has a listing for every single participant, we'd love to see you!

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS

Earlier this year I had so much fun doing a photo shoot for my newest jewellery collections with the super talented Vhairi Walker Photography. Doing a professional shoot had been on my to do list since I don't know when, so I was delighted when a chance conversation with some of my creative pals turned into reality, when we decided to help each other out by modelling each others work. I really wanted to have my work shot on models that conveyed the diversity of beauty in women, not just the mainstream version and I am delighted with the results. I am lucky to have such cool and stylish ladies to call upon.

BE PROUD OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL HANDS

I recently posted this image above featuring my new Ada Ring in Pearl, Silver and Brass on INSTA + FB. My post was about how I think makers hands are beautiful and how they tell a story. But over the years I have heard so many people complain that there hands are ugly or too wrinkly and I myself have been guilty of saying this too. I now have respect for my hands, especially as a maker, they are my tools.

JEWELLERY WORKSHOPS

Autumn is just around the corner which means the dark nights are on their way and we start spending more time indoors doing stuff we enjoy. This is when I start teaching my jewellery classes again and I already have a few lined up, from taster classes to block sessions. If you are interested in learning a new skill or brushing up ones you already have, then feel free to contact me for further information.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. For more up to date news, behind the scenes and the odd cat pic then follow my instagram account.
