Join Aubin for a 2 hour online session of classic pearl stringing. A very handy skill to add to your jewellery repertoire if you are a maker or if you simply want to gain to the skills to repair and restore your own strands. Included in this workshop is a kit with all the basics which you will receive by post a few days in advance of the class commencing.
In a small group of no more than 10 participants you will be guided through the process of traditional knotting a strand of pearls and securing a clasp. The kit will include either a half strand of white freshwater cultured pearls to make a bracelet £35 or a full strand £48 to make a necklace. Threading needles, pearls, thread, french wire and a clasp (gold or silver plated) will all be provided within the kit.
Although this class requires some concentration on the more fiddly parts, the aim is to enjoy the meditative technique of knotting. Plus l hope there will be an opportunity to chat and ask any questions you may have.
In addition to the kit provided, you will also need a sharp pair of scissors, a small tray or a piece of felt to keep all the small pieces in one place. Some clear quick drying glue or clear nail varnish. A device with a camera and access to the internet.
No previous skills are required, however this class will require a keen eye for detail and the ability to thread a needle. To ensure your starter kit arrives in time it is advisable to book at least 3 working days ahead of the date you have selected.
